Ghana Rice Brands You Need To Know Of And Where To Buy Them From.

Ghana Rice Brands You Need To Know Of And Where To Buy Them From.

Ghana rice is getting major talk time on social media especially after news broke of local rice farmers in the North unable to find buyers and sufficient storage space for almost 60,000 bags of rice. The tragic news led to CitiFm launching a campaign to get more Ghanaians to buy and eat local rice to support our local rice farmers. This campaign is also coming on the heels of their recently launched “ Operation Feed Yourself” which is also aimed at encouraging more Ghanaians to venture into agribusiness.

Other locally produced rice brands are DUQ Rice, , Worawora Rice and Nana’s Rice . Efforts to reach these companies were futile hence the inability to share more about their prices and distribution points. But if you see any of these rice brands, pick them up over the imported rice brands.

Ghanaian rice companies can be more proactive in growing the interest and palate of Ghanaians for local rice by engaging nutritionists, food bloggers and other digital creators using recipe demonstrations, tasting sessions and other interactive food experiences. They can also collaborate with ante-natal departments of hospitals to build awareness around the nutritional aspect of Ghana rice for nursing moms who are about to wean their babies. Start the kids early on locally produced rice and they will develop the taste for it.

To be honest, Ghana rice is healthier and safer to consume than most rice imports. Let’s make that conscious decision to eat local to support our local farmers.

Do share any local rice brand in the comments if you know any not listed above. 💁🏽‍♀️
