Meek Mill Allowed To Shoot A Music Video at The Jubilee House Is Highly Contemptuous!

American rapper Robert Rihmeek Williams known professionally as “Meek Mill” posted a music video at the Presidential Jubilee House and Ghanaians are rightfully incensed! The now deleted video from his Twitter account showed the rapper with his ‘boys’ in various parts of the Presidential building posing, waving blings, dancing and prancing about as though this was a neighbourhood in New Jersey.

The Jubilee House is the Presidential palace of Ghana that serves as both the residence and office for the president of Ghana i.e H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo. Liken it to the White House and the Buckingham Palace. It’s definitely not a place for easy access nor one which should be ‘given’ out so lightly for a music video. How has the security of such a building being taken so lightly especially in a time when we are being warned of terrorists in Burkina Faso and surrounding areas of West Africa?

Watch the said music video below:

The music is laced with explicit lyrics which makes one wonder how this projects positively on the nation as a whole. And he uttered such heinous words at the same lectern the President uses for addressing the nation! What is Ghana coming to? Whoever approved for this music video to happen should be fired!

The Ghanaian Twitter community are outraged, disappointed and extremely shocked at how this was even approved by the government.

Can Ghanaian musicians be allowed such access on even the front lawn area of the Jubilee House? The same building where even the Ghanaian citizenry are prevented from acting out their civic rights to demonstrate peacefully on the streets near it? This is the same building this government has given to a foreigner and his boys boys to strut and caption IG posts as “ I felt like a King there!” Like how??

Is that Stonebwoy commenting with a fire emoji? Sigh.

We have allowed Meek Mill to set a precedent for future Black American musicians and they will troop in here with the anticipation of being allowed into any Presidential space in the name of “Beyond the Return” and “Black Kings & Queens.” Sigh!

Somehow this was bound to happen sooner or later. Sometimes i come across tweets and photos showing American celebrities with our President in the Presidential palace and i quietly wonder how and who gives such easy access to our President. Shouldn’t there be more stricter protocols? Or is the promise of “investing'“ in Ghana a lure to which we so easily fall for? Meanwhile, we know very well that a lot of this investment talk is simply noise which doesn’t yield any results. Celebrities will quietly acquire luxury villas in Aburi and East Legon and take gram-worthy photos captioned “#BlackKing!” We know them all!

Its as though, money really can get you anywhere in Ghana and this music video has proven that. Not just any money; Dollars! Have millions of dollars, have an accent and you’ll be given access to excessively premium and secure assets of Ghana. Don’t we value our own assets to protect them?

Why the Jubilee House? Whose suggestion was that even?? A Ghanaian no doubt. Why didn’t they suggest tourist areas like Mole Park, Kakum or Afadzato for the views? That would have been a major boost for our tourism! But no. Someone is thinking of their pocket and has been paid thousands of dollars to allow this. This is shameful, insulting and a national disgrace!!
