Photos & highlights of the Orange music festival

Last night, the Netherlands embassy in Ghana organized an electrifying music festival to commemorate the birthday of the Netherland’s King Willem-Alexander . King's Day is celebrated on 27 April (26 April if the 27th is a Sunday) and is declared a Dutch National Holiday in the Netherlands.

The festival was also a celebration of the deep cultural and historical ties between Ghana and the Netherlands, and it brought together music lovers from both countries to experience a night of diverse musical performances. Aptly named the Orange Music Festival, the event showcased the best of both worlds, with performances from top Ghanaian musicians MƷnsa and Baaba J, renowned slam poetry champion of Belgium Lisette Ma Neza, and other artistes from Suriname. It was a night of positive vibe, delicate Dutch finger foods (excellent cheese btw ), new friendships, laughter, and great music that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Even though the dress code was “Festive” I strongly suspected orange had to feature in that memo.😂😎.

It was an unforgettable experience listening to the rhyme and lyrics from Baaba J whom I'd never heard of till last night 🥹😅. But what a thrill it was hearing Ga lyrics in an afro indie music structure. An absolute banger! She's goood!

The resplendent and body moving performances were a testament to the rich and diverse musical talent that exists in both Ghana and the Netherlands. It was inspiring to see how music can bring people from different backgrounds together, and the festival provided an avenue for people to connect and share their love for music.
