East Legon is the closest suburb for me when looking to dine out for a change and finding Attieke was a major eatery discovery for me because I can’t get enough of the steamed cassava grains which deceptively resemble steamed Gari.
One restaurant I highly recommend for fresh attieke and the most succulent of Tilapia is the hideout Au Grand Ecuyer
Polositas, is easy to spot in its grey exterior highlighted with red details and a little on your left just before Glory Oil and a few seconds from Danquah Circle heading towards Labadi.
So back to how we drove 35 minutes to Ako Adjei to experience cubanos at Little Havana Afro-Latino Cuban Cantina.
A step into Azmera Restaurant instantly creates the impression of fine relaxed dining with an initial delightful surprise at it's refreshing interiors . The award-winning restaurant has undergone subtle yet noticeable revamping of it's interiors to one of modern-rustic chic details.
A few metres from MJ Grand Hotel, tucked into one of the residential lanes is where Bandex Restaurant shyly sits, away from the hustle and bustle of the main East Legon streets. It's homey look ushers a diner into a no-fuss dining area. A straw-covered hut is also one's choice for a more natural outdoor ambiance.
The menu for All-Day Breakfast is a simple one pager listing a Full English Breakfast, Tortilla's, Breakfast Pizza, Huevos Rancheros, Waakye, etc. Yes, you read that right. There's Waakye at Coco Lounge for the expat/tourist who's a bit shy/scared/unsure of buying roadside waakye like how we the locals do. But I wasn't here for the waakye. A Full English Breakfast if you please. Make that two.
Somewhere in Nyaniba Estates, close to the now defunct Christiansborg Hotel, hides a burger restaurant for people of hearty hearts and big appetites. Popularly known for serving expansive burgers, Burger & Relish have been in Ghana for awhile and they look set on staying awhile for the long haul.
